Recreation

At River’s Watch we embrace our elders and learn from their wisdom, providing a loving and supportive environment in which they feel comfortable in their home.

Donna Skwira joined River’s Watch as Recreation Director in May 2016.  She graduated from Holyoke Community College in 2014 with an Associates Degree in Arts, Fitness, and Nutrition.  Donna has worked in memory care since 2012 as a Certified Dementia Practitioner.  In July 2018, Donna became Recreation Director in charge of Grand Vista in addition to River’s Watch.

Our goal at River’s Watch is to allow each resident to reach his or her highest level of function and fulfillment.  Activities include the six dimensions of wellness; intellectual, physical, emotional, sense of purpose, spiritual, and social.  These activities include noodle exercise, resistance training, sensory garden club, trivia, and beading class just to name a few.  Coupled with enthusiastic and caring staff, this helps to create increased feelings of self-worth and improved quality of life for residents.  All of this is in addition to attending parties at the Grand Vista section of our community.

Residents also enjoy seasonal outings such as trips to nearby ice cream shops in the summer, foliage tours in the fall, and Bright Nights at Forest Park during the holiday season.  The totality of our activities helps to keep River’s Watch residents in high spirits while being entertained and motivated.
