Just wanted to say thank you to all 175 people who showed up for our Easter Party this past Saturday (about 40 residents, 85 adults and 50 children). Just to reiterate… Thank you to all ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FIVE PEOPLE who showed up on Saturday for our party
We had tons of fun doing facepainting, egg decorating and of course, scavenging for eggs. All the little ones got prizes and candy and they found all of the almost 500 plastic eggs scattered throughout the building.
We will post pictures that children took with the Easter Bunny in the very near future on the website as well as on Facebook. Again, thank you to everyone who showed up. We had a great time putting on the party and look forward to doing it for many years to come.

Blizzard Nemo (Update #1)

Hello Everybody,
Well, the last couple of years here at Suffield by the River have been oodles of fun in relation to States of Emergencies: we have had freak Halloween snow storms that took out power lines, Hurricane Sandy knocked on our door for a bit and now we might be getting Blizzard Nemo (who is nowhere near as cuddly as his name conveys).
However, since we HAVE had all of the experience with the previous storms, we are prepared for every situation. Our generator is all set, we are stockpiled for anything this storm can bring our way. So please, you can worry about your loved ones, but know they are in the best possible hands and we will make sure everybody is taken care of during the storm.
We will continue to update you here on the website as well as over on our Facebook Page. If there is any sort of emergency we will let you know, but otherwise, try to keep the phone lines cleared and remain calm during the storm. You have ridden out a couple of doozies with us, what is one more going to do?
Thanks,
Suffield by the River
Cancellation Notice (Candlelight, Chocolate, & Love Songs)
Bad News: Unfortunately we have had to cancel the Candlelight, Chocolate, & Love Songs concert that was scheduled for this Saturday because of the possible blizzard heading our way.
We will let you know if we can come up with a postponement date for the concert, but as of right now, no date has been scheduled.
Remember though with the blizzard coming that we have all of our emergency systems primed and ready to go so everybody here will be safe, happy and well fed.
Thank you
Casino Day Recap

We believe in fun here at Suffield by the River. We also believe that done responsibly gambling can be a fun communal activity enjoyed by all. But when it comes to gambling the issue has, and will always be, “how can I experience the thrill of gambling while being assured of not losing any money?”
Well here at Suffield by the River, we came up with the perfect solution, “Casino Day.”
At Casino Day residents are given chips (free of charge) and then can gamble the chips as they please: poker, blackjack, number wheel, and horse racing. If the resident loses their chips they can simply buy back (again, free of charge). At the end of the day residents who still have their chips are given money depending on how many they have and the resident with the most chips gets a $5 bonus.
No matter what, residents could not lose any money and could only win money. A win-win situation if there ever was one (if only real gambling were like that
Well last year our resident with the most chips ended up with 131 chips, this year our residents were not as lucky; the resident with the most chips ended up with 110… HOWEVER, TWO residents ended up with 110.
Both had played blackjack the entire time so it was decided there would be a one hand playoff.
Both residents gambled five chips. Resident number one was dealt a 17 and would stay. Resident number two was dealt an eleven and doubled down (double down card was face down so as to add to the suspense). The dealer was showing a three. Dealer flipped over… a four.
Dealer with a total of seven. Dealer flips over a jack, dealer has 17 and must stay.
Resident One pushes. If Resident Two has a five or below, he loses, seven or more, he wins… A six would result in another one hand playoff. The face down card is flipped over to reveal… a Ten. Resident Two has 21 and wins the $5 bonus.
We paid out a total of $48 and everyone enjoyed themselves… except of course for Suffield by the River, which had to pay out
If you want to check out the pictures you can click on the gallery or you can check out our Facebook Page. Just another fun filled day at Suffield by the River.
